Tourist Information
The ethnographical open-air museum "Etar" is situated in a picturesque region of the Balkan Mountains, 8 km away from Gabrovo. It stretches along the small mountain river of Sivek,. The museum is named after the old name of the river Jantra that runs through the town of Gabrovo.
ÅOM "ETAR" is a center from which the tourists can make the following one-day excursions :
- The town of Trjavna, famous for its splendid museum complex, the icon painting and woodcarving schools. It's located 20 km. from Gabrovo.
- Bojentzi - 8 km away from Gabrovo, a wonderful architectural reserve.
- Veliko Tarnovo - the capital of the second Bulgarian Kingdom, 50 km from here.
- Drjanovo Monastery - 20 km from Gabrovo, a historical monument.
- Shipka memorial - at the top of Shipka.
A specialist from the museum can accompany the tourists to the above-mentioned sites.
"ETAR" is working through the whole year without a day off.
During the summer season (from 01 May till 30 September) it can be visited
from 9.00 to 18.00.
During winter months it has the following working time:
from 9.00 to 16.30.
We offer you guided tours through the complex in English, German, French, Bulgarian and Russian languages.
